Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
